Not at all. We are happy to welcome people of all faiths and none. We believe the gospel of Jesus Christ has much to offer and wish to help others explore this and find out for themselves if our claims about Jesus are true. We always seek to engage in respectful dialogue and listen well to others.
A very warm welcome!
Our Sunday morning gathering is an act of worship which lasts about an hour and a half. We sing a variety of traditional hymns and contemporary chorus' accompanied by piano. There is always a passage read from the Bible and someone will share some thoughts about that passage. We have a variety of speakers from IBC and others who visit us. Information about this can be found under the 'What's On' section under 'Calendar.' There is always a time of prayer when we meet. Some people will pray out loud and others prefer not to. We believe prayer is powerful and essential for our well-being. The purpose of meeting together in this way is to connect with God and be better equipped to live out our faith everyday. On the first Sunday morning of each month we share in communion together.
After the gathering we encourage each other to stay for tea and coffee. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other better and catch up with friends.
Other gatherings throughout the week are structured in different ways according to the purpose of the meeting. In all cases we wish to extend a very warm welcome to all. If you would like to know more please look at the 'what's on' section or get in touch.
If you choose to come along please feel free to join in with us much as is comfortable to you. There'll be no pressure from us.
Children are very welcome at IBC. We have an area which is just for them if they choose to make use of it. The area is stocked with activities and children are free to engage with this as they wish. We don't expect children to sit still and be quiet. If children want to get up and wander around that's fine by us. Children make noise. We are OK with noise.
In any way we possibly can. IBC are committed to extending a warm welcome to all and to making our time together as accessible as possible.
Our building is an old Victorian building we are working on making it more accessible in practice. We acknowledge this isn't ideal. Thank you for your patience.
We have an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
We have an audio loop for those who wish to make use of it.
We recognise that our meetings can at times be visual with things projected on the screen. We are mindful this may be difficult for some and work hard to make sure no one feels excluded.
We acknowledge some people may find 'church language' difficult to understand and make every effort to explain things.
We understand not everyone will be comfortable sitting in the main church and so invite those who wish to use the lounge space to do so at any point. The doors open between the main space and the lounge space ensuring people are able to feel involved wherever they choose to sit.
More than anything we understand we are all unique, if you are finding something difficult to access please talk to one of the leaders, we will do all we can to work with you to dismantle barriers and make our time together as inclusive as possible.
During each Sunday morning gathering a collection bag is passed around as part of our worship. It is primarily for covenant members to contribute to as they wish. If you are visiting with us please do not feel under any obligation to put money in we are just happy to see you and will invite you to simply allow the bag to pass by if you wish.
