A haven is a place of rest. A harbour where ships take refuge from the storms of the seas. Sometimes life can feel pressured and chaotic. Haven at IBC is a place of refuge and support. A sanctuary, a safe space, a place of rest and peace. A place of hope.
Aly is a Baptist Minister and joined the IBC team as Missioner in January 2020. She trained for ministry at Bristol Baptist College. Aly is married to Andy and mum to five (some grown up).
Aly is really passionate about introducing people to Jesus and helping them grow and flourish in their faith. She became a follower of Jesus age 15, and believes the words of the gospel have power to transform lives, because these life giving words changed hers. As a Welsh woman, Aly enjoys watching rugby (no surprise!!) she also enjoys sci-fi and Marvel movies, coffee and dancing.
Aly’s favourite Bible verse was given to her as her Baptism promise, age 15. It is Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Frank is life group leader at Encounter church (opposite the Co-op), he and his wife Linda trained at Kingdom Faith Bible College in Pastoral care and Leadership. After training the couple opened Gilgal Christian Centre, a residential community church in Co. Cork, Ireland, supporting people with addiction issues.
From Liverpool, Frank moved to Woolacombe in 1970 now living in beautiful Ilfracombe. Frank is passionate about the life giving words of Jesus and his favourite Bible verse is John 6:44 “No one can come to me (Jesus) unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
Jon is married to Jude with 6 grown up children and 11 grandchildren so far. Jon loves Jesus and has passionately served Jesus as Lord his whole life. Jesus has redeemed, restored and released Jon to live life in all its fullness and has commissioned Jon to go and help others find this same freedom in Christ. Jon and Jude have served in this ministry throughout the world. As Pastors they work in partnership with others wherever they can.
One of Jon’s favourite Bible verses is Proverbs 31:8-9 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Jude is married to Jon and the couple have grown up children and grandchildren. Jude is a nurse by trade and cares very much for people’s health, mind, body and soul. As a Pastor, Jude’s desire is to see people set free and flourish in all God has for them. Jesus is the most important person in Jude’s life and has been since becoming a Christian aged 16.
One of Jude’s favourite Bible verses is Micah 6:8 “I have shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Miriam is a Pastoral Worker and Biblical Counsellor based at Brookdale Church (just by Lidl). Miriam has lived in Ilfracombe for 12 years but grew up on a farm not far from the town and became a Christian when she was 11years old.
Miriam is a people person and passionate about accompanying people on their life journey no matter what the journey brings.
Miriam’s favourite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 ‘For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord.Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; to give you a hope and a future.’
