The Deacons @IBC

Keith Burrows - Church Secretary

Chris Gill - Treasurer and Safeguarding

Chris Gill - Treasurer and Safeguarding

Keith has been a member of IBC since he moved to Ilfracombe in 1985. A farmer ’by trade’, having been born on a farm, Keith has been in the farming business  all his life and absolutely loves it! Keith is married to the lovely Mary and the couple have grown up children. Keith is a passionate about Jesus and is an inspiring preacher. His enthusiasm is contagious. Keith’s favourite Bible verse (below) is one that he has taken comfort in many times. Keith gives credit to God for looking after him and his family throughout all of  life’s ups and downs! This was especially true during a time when his livelihood was threatened as BSE was on the farm and there was cases of foot and mouth disease only three miles away!

Keith’s favourite bible verse is Joshua 1:7 “Be strong and courageous...that you maybe successful wherever you go.”

Chris was carried into IBC as a babe in arms and we have been her spiritual home ever since. Chris is married to David and the couple have two grown up children. She is a gifted worship leader and Bible teacher. She is passionate about discipleship and helping people grow in faith. Chris is an outdoorsy person who loves gardening and especially loves spending time with her beloved pony. Chris is gifted at art and painting and has lots of ideas about creative prayer stations and other things!

Chris’ favourite Bible verse is Psalm 91:1-2 ‘Whoever dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.“

Tom Clothier - Building Maintenance

Tom Clothier - Building Maintenance

Tom joined IBC leadership in July  2020. Tom is passionate about mission and sharing his faith in Jesus with others. Tom has been involved with the ‘Christian Television Network’ and ‘International Men for Missions’ and currently heads up IBCs Men’s fellowship, which meet about once a month. Tom also loves all things practical and is the deacon responsible for maintenance of the church building. Having been involved in several church refurbishment projects in the past Tom has a wealth of experience in this area. Married to the lovely Joy, Tom has lived in beautiful Ilfracombe for 3 years and has been a follower of Jesus since 1953.

Tom’s favourite verse from the Bible is Luke 22: 42 “not my will, but yours be done”, because Tom describes himself as ‘very self willed’.
